001 - Why I am Starting a Newsletter

From Medium to Substack

Welcome to the first edition of Obvious Knowledge, where I spill the tea on all the things I’ve learned throughout the week. As someone who is passionate about seeking out and sharing new information, I wanted to create a newsletter where I could curate a list of interesting things I've learned each week and share them with you.

As some of you may already know, I've been writing online for over a year now on Medium, where I've amassed over 1.8K followers by talking about personal development and finance.

However, I wanted to do something a little different with my newsletter. Rather than focusing on a specific topic, I wanted to share a variety of interesting things I've come across throughout the week, including a quote, tweet, book, video, and podcast of the week.

But first, a little background on why I'm so passionate about sharing knowledge with others.

One of my mission is to create educational content that inspires and guides young Nigerians to achieve their full potential. By sharing practical advice, inspiration, and proven strategies for personal growth, I want to help these aspiring minds succeed and reach new heights!

I believe that knowledge is power, and that by sharing what we learn with others., we can help each other grow and become better versions of ourselves. My hope for this newsletter is that it will inspire you, make you think, and perhaps even make you laugh.

With that in mind, let's dive into the first edition of Obvious Knowledge!

Quote of the Week:

"Expect nothing but Accept everything and you will never be dissappointed" - Laurence Overmire

This quote really hit home for me, you know? 'Cause like, whenever I really want something and I stress about it too much, it's like the universe is all like 'Nah, not gonna happen, bro.' But then, when I just forget about it and move on with my life, bam! That thing I wanted just falls into my lap. Same thing with money - Anytime I am expecting money from a relative, I never set my expectations too high, so I'm not disappointed when I get less than I thought I would. You feel me?

Tweet of the Week: Ryan Holiday

Book of the Week:

The book I want to recommend this week is "Atomic Habits" by James Clear.

This book is a must-read book if you're interested in making small changes that lead to big results! In it, Clear offers practical tips for creating positive habits and breaking negative ones, based on the idea that consistent, incremental improvements can lead to massive personal growth. It's an engaging and easy-to-read guide that can help you achieve your goals and live your best life. I highly recommend checking it out!

Podcast/Video of the Week:

Finally, If you're into podcasts and want some real talk from successful business leaders, you should definitely check out The Diary of a CEO. I don't even know which episode to recommend, but honestly, they're all pretty awesome.

The host, Steven Bartlett, chats with some seriously inspiring folks and gives us a glimpse into their journeys to success. It's a great way to get motivated and learn some tips for crushing it in your own career. I recommend watching on Youtube!

That's all for this week's edition of Obvious Knowledge. I hope you enjoyed it and learned something new. If you have any suggestions for things I should include in future newsletters, feel free to reach out and let me know.

Until next time, take care!
